Pastor David Walker grew up attending a Southern Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina. He joined the United States Air Force and served at several locations around Germany. He was later stationed at Osan Air Base in Korea where he decided to join the ministry on Thanksgiving Day 1992. His next assignment was at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. While at Robins AFB Pastor David applied to leave the Air Force early. Because this was before his normal enlistment was over he had to spend the next two years as a member of the Air Force Reserves.
He began attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in September of 1994 a few weeks after leaving the Air Force. Within two months he was called as the Minister of Music and Youth at Carey Baptist Church in Henderson, North Carolina. He was ordained to the Gospel ministry in February of 1997 at his home church, Immanuel Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina.
In 1997 Pastor David became the Minister of Education and Students and served for a time as the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Belmont North Carolina where he served until 2001. In January of 2002 he became the Minister to Students at Cave Spring Baptist Church where he served until December 2003. In December of 2003 he became the Pastor of Wadley Baptist Church in Wadley, Georgia.
Eventhough Pastor David was happy in Wadly he had loved his time in the USAF, and had prayed that God would open a door to one day minister in a community like the one that so impacted my life. He saw the advertisement of Grace International Baptist Church of Leimen, Germany in his state Baptist paper, and he asked his wife about it. She surprised him by almost immediately agreeing that they should submit a resume. They made two trips to Germany to meet the church and for the church to meet them. They were offered a position in October of 2005 and shortly after that they moved to Germany and became the Pastor for Grace International Baptist Church in Leimen.
Samantha, Pastor David's wife, has a BA in Music Therapy. She was successfully self employed for five years in in Charlotte, North Carolina as a music therapist contracting with special needs schools and preschools, assisted living centers, adult daycares, ect. After getting married to Pastor David she was the preschool music leader for a weekday preschool program at a church near where they lived in Roanoke, Virgina.
After moving to Georgia, Samantha became a licensed Kindermusik educator. Kindermusik International, which originated in Germany, creates music and movement curriculum for children ages birth to seven years old.
Samantha and her family have been involved in missions for many years and have made several missions trips to Romania and other countries.
Pastor David and Samantha have one son named Benjamin.
